I will formally post a goodbye to Rome and this blog.

It's been almost 5 months since I came to Rome, and I leave a changed person. I didn't expect this to be as much of a pilgrimage it turned out to be.

I will miss this place for sure. But not the politics. The 24 hour strike planned for today was cancelled, which made me regret not being able to go out for the last time. I'm going to have a hard enough time packing though, so maybe that's good.

I've found a home here that I will have to leave behind for the time being. The Filipino community at San Marcello al Corso and the Brothers and Sisters of Gerusalemme, who may not have even known I was there...I heard my last Mass in Rome in their little church on top of the Spanish Steps, listening to their heavenly voices sing praises to our God.

And with that, a good night and a goodbye.

I remain your servant,
-j
